Saturday April 7, 2012 is designated as a license-free fishing day throughout the state of Florida in fresh waters.
That means that people of all ages can cast their lines into 3 million acres of lakes, ponds and reservoirs and 12,000 miles of fishable rivers, streams and canals. There are four days a year that are dedicated to license-free fishing. This allows people to get out on the water and try their hand at fishing without having to get a license to do so. These dates are set by The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Other dates this year include:
June 2, 2012 – License-free saltwater fishing day
September 1, 2012 – License-free saltwater fishing day
June 9, 2012 – License-free freshwater fishing day
